Spanish Lessons

Robert and Mira started with their Spanish language lessons this week.  Three mornings a week starting at 8 am we sit in our outdoor patio and get a lesson over breakfast. Rory usually sits with us. So far, so good.  Our teacher, Luchiano, seems to be putting up with our ADD.  We got some homework this weekend and we might even do it before our next class.  After class, Robert goes to work.  This week he used the public buss twice.  For 50 cents he gets an air-conditioned bus with plenty of seats where he can work.  The ride is about 40 minutes, so he’ll probably stick with this approach until the arrival of a family car.  We are still undecided and underfunded on the car front.  We hope to get that worked out after Robert pulls in his first paycheck here in Cordoba.

Cilantro Update

Update to my cilantro blog entry of March 26:

I’m hearing from certain sources that cilantro is in fact sometimes available at the mercado norte in Cordoba.  Apparently, the Bolivian ladies who sell produce there sometimes have a stash.  We’ll see.  This is a must for the Cinco de Mayo party to be held at the Pierce residence.

Vindication

Robert was vindicated this morning.  All week he had been facing guffaws and full belly laughs every time he opined outloud that the waft of subtle stench occasionally floaing through our living room this week was due to a difficult to locate dead frog.  Well, he’s here to tell you that he found that frog, and it was dead.  A coroner’s inquest was held.  Official cause of death:  Blunt trauma caused by a heavy sliding glass door probably operated by  a two year old boy, identity unknown.
